Traditional Medicine as Complementary or Palliative Care in Managing Cancer Treatment Side Effects

Chamomile
Chamomile has numerous medicinal benefits and has been used throughout history to help manage various health conditions. Chamomile tea may help relieve insomnia. Studies have shown that chamomile mouthwash may be beneficial in preventing and managing oral sores caused by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Rinsing and gargling with chamomile tea may help improve mouth and throat sores over time. Chilled chamomile tea may also be a suitable option for relieving digestive problems such as stomach cramps.

Topical use of honey may be similarly effective to chamomile and chlorhexidine in preventing chemotherapy-induced mucositis in children with leukemia.
Ginger
Ginger may help reduce nausea in patients.

Abukhalsa:
When used in ointment form, Abukhalsa may help promote the healing of wounds caused by leakage of chemotherapy drugs.
